To promote science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) across North Dakota, the NDSGC established the STEM Ambassador program, available for undergraduate and graduate students. STEM Ambassadors conduct hands-on activities to North Dakota students, families, and communities. This can include K-12 classroom visits and informal education events (library outreach, family nights, science festivals, girl/boy scout activities, etc.) Students must be comfortable securing their own outreach events and confident to visit schools. STEM Ambassadors will work individually, with other STEM Ambassadors, or with the NDSGC team, depending on the type of outreach event. This position pays $12/hour and supports a flexible schedule (~40 hours per semester). A sample of hands-on activities can be found here .
STEM Ambassadors must visit the UND campus and attend a training session at the start of the fall semester. Here, they will receive instruction on how to conduct numerous STEM lesson plans.
Students must be a U.S. citizen, enrolled at a NDSGC affiliated college or university , have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be pursuing a degree in Education or the STEM field.
