STEM Ambassador Program

To promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) across North Dakota, the NDSGC established the STEM Ambassador program, available for undergraduate and graduate students. STEM Ambassadors conduct hands-on activities to North Dakota students, families, and communities. This can include K-12 classroom visits and informal education events (library outreach, family nights, science festivals, girl/boy scout activities, etc.). Students must be comfortable securing their own outreach events and confident to visit schools. STEM Ambassadors will work individually, with other STEM Ambassadors, or with the NDSGC team, depending on the type of outreach event. This position pays $15/hour and supports a flexible schedule (around 40 hours per semester). See a sample of hands-on activities.
STEM Ambassadors must visit the UND campus and attend a training session at the start of the fall semester. Here, they will receive instruction on how to conduct numerous STEM lesson plans. To be eligible to become a STEM Ambassador, students must be a U.S. citizen, enrolled at an NDSGC affiliated college or university, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. All majors are welcome to apply! Additional requirements include:
- Resume
- Letter of recommendation from a faculty member
- Three 300-word essays
- Unofficial transcript
