Fellowship Bridge Program
The Student Bridge Fellowship is a flexible entry-level research program, designed to introduce transfer students to the research being conducted in their new program. Students who have earned a 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree and are starting an advanced program at an NDSGC-affiliate college or university are encouraged to apply for funding to complete entry-level research projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) fields. Students interested in applying are strongly encouraged to contact the NDSGC to help with mentor pairings. Students with little or no research experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Funding
Students will work directly with research mentors to determine the appropriate time to spend on the project (total weeks, total hours per week). Stipends are unique to each project and will follow the hourly rates as defined below:
- Undergraduate Students: $20.50/hr
- Graduate Students: $24.75/hr
Eligibility
The student:
- must be enrolled at an NDSGC Affiliate College or University
- must be seeking an advanced degree (e.g. A.S. to B.S. or B.S. to M.S.)
- must be a U.S. Citizen
- must be in good academic standing
Students receiving a ½ Graduate Assistantship appointment are not eligible for fellowships; students earning a ¼ Graduate Assistantship appointment are eligible for partial fellowships.

Faculty
Faculty at four-year institutions are encouraged to nominate any incoming students, especially those interested in gaining hands-on research experience. The NDSGC is happy to help match the students with an appropriate mentor, to make each student's experience rewarding and effective. Research projects can be designed to match the specific length of time and student. If you are interested in serving as a mentor, the NDSGC is happy to connect you with a student researcher.
