Transfer Scholarship
The North Dakota Space Grant Consortium provides scholarship funding for outstanding students at North Dakota's public two- and four-year colleges and universities. The NDSGC Transfer Scholarship aims to support a student's continuing education efforts. Students must have completed a 2- or 4-year degree, a certificate program, or 24 credits at a post-secondary school before transferring to a NDSGC-affiliated four-year school. All funds are distributed on a competitive basis.
Funding
- $2,500 per scholarship
Eligibility
The student:
- must be transferring to a 4-year NDSGC affiliate college or university to complete an advanced degree
- must be a U.S. Citizen
- must be in good academic standing
- must be pursuing a STEM or STEM Education degree
Nursing majors are ineligible for NDSGC scholarships, per NASA rules and regulations.

How to Apply
Applications for the Transfer Scholarship will be evaluated using the following criteria. Please review this information prior to submission, and feel free to share these details with your requested recommender.
- Resume, including work and research experience, academic performance, and extracurricular and leadership activities
- Letter of Recommendation, including academic and technical capabilities, student character, and attributes that make this student an ideal candidate
- Essays addressing the following questions, each separate response consisting of 250-350
words:
- Many valuable skills, talents, and industry norms aren't taught in the classroom or workplace. When was a time you could have made a better decision for your STEM community? How did you manage the misstep? What did you learn from the experience?
- Describe both your academic and career goals. How will this scholarship help you achieve those goals?
- Link your goals to why you should be awarded the Transfer Scholarship. This is your opportunity to demonstrate why you are a strong candidate. Highlight your academic achievements, leadership potential, commitment to your field, etc.
- Please share why you have decided to pursue a STEM degree and in what specific way(s) you want your work in the STEM community to make life better for others.
- No community is perfect, and systemic barriers can limit access to education and opportunity. Tell us of a time you overcame adversity in STEM. How do you want to make sure others don't have to overcome the same obstacles in the future?
